A Fun and Fabulous Wedding Day for Ruth & Keith at Cabra Castle

For November’s Blog post, we will highlighting the fabulous wedding of Ruth & Keith which took place at Cabra Castle in Cavan, a day filled with so much fun and laughter; it was a joy to work on.

There is something undeniably magical about exchanging vows in a castle surrounded by sweeping gardens and ancient woodlands; with 100 acres of exquisitely maintained gardens and parkland on the doorstep of the majestic Dún a Rí Forest Park, the castle stands as a dreamy, story-book setting.Inside and out, Cabra Castle offers a variety of beautiful spaces that suit both grand celebrations and intimate gatherings. Couples can choose from the historic Ballroom, the romantic Gallerie Veranda overlooking the Italian-style gardens, or the newly built bespoke ceremony venue The Granary; a bright, modern space with floor-to-ceiling glass windows that frame panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. It was a warm, welcoming and relaxed celebration for Ruth & Keith’s wedding at Cabra Castle. The venue makes life easy for couples and their guests; with an area to host the ceremony, the reception, and provide guest accommodation all under one roof. That means less stress, more time to enjoy your day, and the assurance of a cohesive, luxurious experience from start to finish. For Ruth’s bouquet and floral arrangements, we chose a romantic and lush mixture of soft hydrangeas, delicate ranunculus, enchanting sweet peas, classic roses, dreamy peonies and elegant lisianthus. The combination blended beautifully together; giving volume, fullness, texture, charm and timelessness.Ruth & Keith’s wedding was beautifully documented by Katie Kavanagh — an Irish wedding photographer whose style is relaxed, candid, and full of heart. Katie doesn’t just photograph weddings; she captures the energy, the laughter, the quiet moments, and the small stories that make up a real wedding day. Her approach emphasizes authenticity over posed perfection, making the result feel natural and full of life. With over a decade of experience and a reputation for creating joyful, honest images, Katie brought her signature upbeat and inclusive vibe to the day. Couples who might dread being in front of the camera often find themselves laughing, feeling at ease and, as a result, their photos end up full of warmth and personality. For a castle wedding like this, her “documentary-style” approach meant that every glance, every shared smile and every magical moment was captured, giving Ruth & Keith memories they’ll cherish forever. On the morning of the wedding, Gail Miller worked her magic to create a bridal makeup look that was elegant yet natural; the kind that lasts throughout the whole day. Gail reinforced a calm, professional presence during those early hours to help set the tone for the day, making sure Ruth felt beautiful and confident from the very first moment. Paired with Gail’s makeup, hairstyling by Hazel Quinn added the finishing touches.Ruth’s gown was from by Dreamy Curves, Ireland’s award-winning boutique specialising in curvy bridal wear based in Bray. The boutique is known for its beautifully crafted wedding dresses in sizes from 12 to 36, giving every bride the opportunity to find the gown of her dreams, no matter her shape.
