Planning a wedding is an exciting journey filled with countless details and there can be a lot to consider along the way. From choosing the perfect venue, selecting the right vendors, organising the logistics of the day; it can seem extremely overwhelming especially when you are at the initial planning stages.
In this month’s blog; we’ll cover some practical tips & key questions to consider when choosing your wedding florist in order to make your big day unforgettable.
- Budget – Bear in mind your overall wedding budget & then estimate what you think will be needed for your florals but also what you are willing to spend. Considering your budget will also help you narrow down what suppliers you can afford to work with.
- Inspiration – Gather ideas from Pinterest, social media, magazines, and wedding blogs to define your style.
- Research – look into potential floral vendors, consider their style; if it fits the aesthetic you are looking for, examine their previous portfolio of work, read any reviews and testimonials.
- Ask Questions – Reach out to florists and enquire about availability, price points, deposits & also their cancellation policy in the off chance you may have to move or cancel the day.
- Consult – whether via email, phone or a face-to-face meeting, discuss with your chosen florist your theme, the colour palette, any décor or florals that you feel are must-haves or going to be meaningful for you on your day.
- Venue – where you are getting married & having the reception will play a part in determining what floral arrangements you may need & how many. It will also give you insight if a certain floral idea you were banking on having can actually be done or not with your chosen space.
- Quantity – Remember it’s not just the wedding bouquets you will need to consider, but any additional flowers for other members of the wedding party, the ceremony décor, the venue & reception décor, centre pieces, arches, moongates, cake decorations, the list goes on.
- Consider – what flowers are in season during your wedding month. Out of season flowers are expensive and can be difficult to source, while flowers that are in season are much more plentiful giving you more choice. Florists will always give the best advice on what to choose for the specific time of year and can often offer cheaper, alternative options to suit your needs so being open to compromise is key.
- Communicate – make sure you are confirming ideas & choices with your florist’s schedule as soon as you can, they are working with multiple couples & any delays can have a knock on effect. Also stay as flexible & open minded as possible with suggestions or advice they may have.
With careful planning and the right florist, your wedding flowers will beautifully complement your special day just like Stef & Ethan who I recently had the pleasure of working with for their wedding at Tinakilly Country House & Gardens.
